After a couple of postponed matches due to water logged pitches, the players were eager for a match and it showed. Right from the whistle West Exe were passing the ball about well and pushing forward. It only took three minutes for us to bag our first goal which started from a lovely long ball from Archie to James, who flipped the ball over the Panthers defender and volleyed into the bottom left hand corner of the net. What a beauty. 0-1. A few minutes later and a shot from Magic required a good save from their keeper and again after nine minutes when James shoots, the Panthers keeper made a great save. On eleven minutes West Exe had a corner which Levi heads down for Dylan to pounce and slot home our second. 0-2. Pink Panthers have a chance following a bit of a mix up in our area which is eventually resolved by Tee using the ‘if in doubt kick it out’ approach. Panic over. Seventeen minutes sees a corner from Mickie fizzed into the area for Levi to strike a belter of a volley which unfortunately goes just wide. However, sixty seconds later we have another corner and this time Levi, who seemed to find a trampoline from somewhere, soars way above everyone else to powerfully head the ball into the bottom of the net. 0-3. A few minutes later and Levi is at it again with a screamer from outside the box past a diving Panthers keeper. 0-4. A few minutes before the half time whistle Seb is brought down just outside the penalty box. James lines up and hits a low, hard shot into the net. 0-5. Right on half time Ellen tucks in goal number six after a fine cross by Thomas on the left wing. 0-6.
HT 0-6
The second half starts off as the first half ended. West Exe pass it around in midfield, a through ball by Thomas to Levi still leaves him with plenty to do. He swerves around two Panther defenders and smashes it into the net. 0-7. The next fifteen minutes is a little bit calmer with a few attempts by West Exe either being saved or going just wide. We’re back at it again in the seventeenth minute when Magic runs down the left wing to roll the ball into the path of James to side foot into the goal. (I think kids call this a ‘sweaty’). 0-8. A fairly quiet fifteen minutes apart from an attempt by Panthers which required a fantastic save by keeper Thomas. The game was finished off by another goal after Levi had a shot which rebounds back to James to pop it in the net. 0-9.  At some point during the second half I missed Ellen’s second goal. Apologies Ellen, I’m sure it was a beauty.
Full Time 0-10
West Exe produced some great football, with decisive passing, an eagerness to win the ball and generally a great team effort. The defence all worked well as a unit, midfield chased back to help out when required and pushed forward when the moment arose and the strike force was deadly. Well Done West Exe.
