05/01/2019 – U9s vs Culm Valley

Westexe U9’s 2-0 Culm Valley

After speaking to the Culm Valley manager beforehand it became apparent both teams were unbeaten in all league & cup fixtures for the season and the game started very evenly as expected. Westexe gradually got on top with their pressing game and created the better of the opportunities but the best chance fell to the visitors on the counterattack & Presley had to be alert to clear. A few minutes before HT Jaxon got fouled just outside the area & stepped up to drill a shot into the roof of the net, just what the game needed & what Westexe deserved. The 2nd half was much of the same with Westexe ruing a few missed chances & just when Culm was having a little pressure in the last few minutes pushing for the equaliser it was Westexe that had a counterattack which saw Owen running through, in true Owen fashion he picked his spot and buried it to make the last few minutes quite enjoyable for the parents and coaches.

Friendly

Westexe 2-1 Culm Valley

This game was played in a really fun & enjoyable spirit and also gave an opportunity for all of the boys to be running around on a freezing morning, we agreed to play 10v10 which meant at times it was a very cramped to be playing flowing football but the competitive edge was still their.

Culm took a very early lead in this one but that didn’t shake our boys. Just before HT again, Ellis this time managed to dink the ball past the outstretched GK so we went into HT level, just what the boys deserved. 2nd half was very even & the tackles were flying in from both teams but nobody could get the 3rd goal until with seconds to go Pres who had come out of goal for the 2nd half calmly slotted in past the GK. The boys were buzzing after such a dramatic win at the death.

Well Done Westexe!!! Very proud coaches & parents!!!
