LEAGUE CUP – QUARTER FINAL

WEST EXE YOUTH V BRIXINGTON BLUES u13’s

8th December 2018 KO 10.30am

Due to a boggy pitch at Barton Fields, the match was quickly re-arranged to play at Brixington (at the time they were second in the league). Expectations were high after a brilliant 7-5 win in the previous round against league leaders Moors.

The game started at a frantic pace with good consistent pressure from West Exe with a number of shots being saved or just off target. The deadlock was broken after 24 minutes when Mickie put in a lovely cross from the right wing for Tee to header home. This seemed to spur West Exe on even more with the remainder of the first half being played in Brixington’s half.

HT 1-0

The second half continued in much the same way the first half ended. West Exe looked confident, pushing forward with all players looking for space and to pass the ball.

The pressure from closing down when West Exe lost the ball resulted in the second goal. James played a superb through ball to Dylan who from the half way line ran to slot a great finish past the diving goalkeeper. West Exe still wanted more and kept up the pressure but were caught on the break. West Exe goalkeeper Thomas was faced with a one on one but stayed on his feet and big (Schmeichel like) to charge down a venomous shot. West Exe again remained cool and on 29 minutes James ran through to make it 3-0.

Final Score 3-0

A quite brilliant game of football with great team spirit. Exactly how a team game should be played Well done everyone.
