15/12/2018 U13s vs Okehampton

DIVISION ONE

OKEHAMPTON V WEST EXE YOUTH u13’s

15th December 2018 KO 10.30am

The weather conditions weren’t too pleasant for either the players or spectators with very heavy rain and strong winds and to make matters worse, kick off was delayed due to issues with the goals. West Exe won the coin toss and decided to play into the wind in the first half  and the first 10 minutes of the game was mostly West Exe possession. Okehampton had a shot go wide after 13 minutes but a few minutes later, Tee hit a well weighted through ball to James who rounded the keeper to make it 0-1. This kick started Okehampton into action with almost an instant response but thanks to a great save by West Exe goalkeeper Thomas the shot was saved. However Okehampton pushed again after West Exe lost the ball and it was 1-1. This actually had a positive affect on West Exe who took control of the game and went on to score a further four goals before the half time whistle.

HT 1-5

It only took Okehampton 2 minutes into the second half to make a few well placed passes and score past an isolated keeper 2-5. West Exe responded immediately with a headed goal from Ellen, then a left footed strike from Mickie, 2-7. Okehampton had a free kick in the 9th minute which was saved by goalkeeper Thomas. The game settled down for the next 10 minutes but the strain of Okehampton playing into the wind began to show and West Exe scored a further four goals to make it 2-11. Towards the end of the match and with West Exe pushing high up the pitch, Okehampton passed it around to score their third. West Exe were still hungry for more and towards the final whistle Ellen slots home West Exe’s twelfth.

Final Score 3-12

A great team performance in difficult conditions. A perfect result to finish on before the Christmas break.
