Cheque presentation to FORCE Cancer Charity and CLIC Sargent

West Exe Youth Football Club will be presenting a cheque to FORCE Cancer Charity on Monday 19th September 2016 at 6:30pm at Cowick Barton Playing Fields.

This follows our charity day in May, held at Tedburn St. Mary Football Club, to raise money for both FORCE Cancer Charity and CLIC Sargent.

We will present a similar cheque to CLIC Sargent in the near future [see update below].

We would like to invite all our players and coaches to attend, in full match kit please. We will have a photographer and are hopeful that the Express & Echo will cover the event.

Update 19th September 2016

Good news! As well as presenting a cheque to FORCE Cancer Charity we will now also be presenting a similar cheque to CLIC Sargent at the same time, 6:30pm today, Barton Fields!

A thank you from the chairman

A few days have passed since the West Exe Charity Football Day held in association with CLIC Sargent and FORCE and we will all have had a chance to reflect on what a wonderful day it was. The sun shone (some of the time), people arrived in droves and everyone seemed to have a great time. The day surpassed all expectations and went off, seemingly, without a hitch and the only main worry was whether we could fit all the cars in the field.

West Exe Charity Day, 22nd May 2016, Tedburn St Mary Football Club

There are far too many people to thank individually, but I would like to express my personal gratitude to each and everyone one of you who contributed to the success of the day and giving up your precious time to ensure it ran smoothly. Thank you, it could not have been done without you all. In particular though I would like to thank Tedburn St Mary FC for so generously throwing their doors open to us and giving us such a warm welcome.

A special mention has to go to Simon and Jo Partridge, without them the day would not have happened and I know they expelled blood, sweat and tears in making the day happen. I would also like to mention the Endicott family, who put their hearts and soles into the planning, preparation and execution of the event, the bravery they all have shown has been epic. All those who worked in the refreshments tent worked tirelessly throughout the day. Finally, I would like to mention the Fez Army, never have I seen a BBQ run so well, such hard work was put in.

I hope you have all walked a little taller this week knowing what fantastic efforts you all put in over the weekend.

Thanks need to also go to all our special guests, but particularly Mike Mullarkey, who really got into the spirit of the day and helped make the coaches match one that none of us will forget.

We will do a similar event again (probably not next year though) and therefore any feedback you have would be greatly appreciated, whether it is what you enjoyed or what we could do better.

I am so very proud of what the West Exe YFC family has achieved along with our partners from FORCE and CLIC Sargent.

Well done and thank you,

Duncan Worthington
West Exe YFC Chairman

A message from Simon

Hi all,

I hope that your sponsorship raising is going well for the West Exe Charity Day this Sunday?

Hopefully you have been notified of times already for your matches, but if not I just wanted to keep you updated.

Match times are as follows:

U7’s 9:30, U9’s 10:30, U10’s 11:30, U11’s 1:30pm, U12’s 1:30pm, U14’s 2:50pm, U15’s 4:10pm.

World record times for your team are as follows:

U9’s 9:30am, U10’s 10:30am, U7’s 11:30am, U11’s & U12’s 12:30pm, U14’s 1:30pm, and U15’s 2:50pm.

The main attraction of the day, which is the fancy dress match, is at 12:30pm; if you want a laugh this is a must see!

Please can you ensure you arrive in time for your start times as the plan is to be continuous with no breaks.

There are areas for gazebos etc., so you can set up camp for the day.

Fingers crossed the weather will be like today and I look forward to seeing you Sunday for what should be a great day.

Many thanks,

Two ECFC players attending the charity day

We are very proud to announce that two very special guests will be attending our FORCE and CLIC Sargent charity day on 22nd May.

Two Exeter City Football Club players.

We have both Lee Holmes, recently voted the fans’ player of the season for 2015/16, and Christy Pym, city ‘keeper and three-time England U20 international, attending the day. Christy was a West Exe Youth Football Club player before he joined Exeter City.

The two Exeter City players join international assistant referee Mike Mullarkey on our list of special guests for the day.

Mike will be refereeing our Heroes vs Villians coaches game, while Lee and Christy will be available for photographs and autographs; we may even persuade them to either take, or face, a few penalties during our Guinness world record attempt.

We hope you will all join us in thanking all our guests for giving up their time to support FORCE, CLIC Sargent, and our own football club.

Charity day car parking

The car park will be open from 8am until 7pm on the day.

A fee of £2 will be charged per vehicle.

The car park will be in the field directly opposite the football club. If you are travelling from Exeter the football club will be on your right and the car park on your left, with the entrance to the car park just after the turning to the football club. The car park entrance can be seen on the map below as the lane just to the west of the football club, heading south from the main road.

There will be marshalls in place at all times directing you all the way from the main road to your designated parking slot. The marshall directing you to your slot will take your money once you have parked, so please have your money ready.

Disabled visitors only may park in the football club car park. No other cars will be permitted, not even for dropping off. There will be approximately 300 children in the football club grounds, and their safety is of paramount concern.

Charity day car sharing

If you are driving to the charity day at Tedburn St. Mary Football Club on 22nd May and are willing to give someone else a lift, or you have no way of getting out to Tedburn St. Mary and are looking for a lift, please contact Brian Sheppey at

Brian has graciously agreed to organise car shares to help people to and from the venue, and can hopefully hook you up.

Unfortunately we simply do not have the resources to organise transport ourselves, so any volunteers to provide a lift to someone in need would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Final charity day meeting

As discussed at the last meeting we have arranged our final meeting before the big day this Sunday 8th May at Tedburn St Mary FC.

Address: Barley Park, Tedburn St Mary, EX6 6AE

The meeting will commence at 6pm, so please be there on time.

I just want to have a quick update around the room, to ensure everyone is on target and happy with their responsibilities, and also offer information on how many volunteers will be required for the day, and at what times, so we can pass to the club committee for volunteers.

It is therefore very important that everybody involved with the running of the day is present please. This will then allow everyone to offer any opinions or advice, while still giving us time to change things if necessary.

Please can you all pass this message on to anybody who will be involved with the running of the day (including the farmer please Jaimie and Darren).

We are now only just over 2 weeks away so starting to get scary now, very real, so I would appreciate you all making the most effort possible to invite the right people and to inform them of how important this is to us as a club.

If you know of anyone who has not been invited please let me know so I can include them, but also please invite them if required.

Thank you all in advance and I look forward to seeing you all at 6pm on Sunday May 8th at Tedburn.
